08/25/1972 - Giants Get Road Win, 8-4; Kingman Off the Schneid?
Dave Kingman was instrumental in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Chicago Cubs. The first baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the San Francisco Giants. Jerry Johnson converted his 16th save in 19 tries. At 58-71, San Francisco is in 5th place in the NL West Division.
Kingman had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 curveball from RHP Rick Reuschel, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Giants a 5-4 lead. It was the 28th home run of the year for Kingman.
