1961-1962 Season Review
The NHL adds the Los Angeles Kings and the San Francisco Seals. (Played the season before the name votes came in). They are added to the West which allows Cleveland to make the playoffs.
Pittsburgh (On goal differential) and St. Louis topped their divisions; with Detroit edging past Pittsburgh in the final to take their 4th Stanley Cup.
Kluka (now in Detroit) tops all goal scorers while teammate Colles tops 100 points and sets a new assist record (74) in an expanded schedule of 74 games.
Kluka is the first player to top 600 goals (611) and has moved into second in all time points (1165), behind a still active St. Pierre (1252) who wins his (yawn) 11th MVP.
The Rangers Leon Fowler wins his 4th d-man of the year
In ownership news Toronto owner Conn Smythe has sold the team to his son Stafford and Harold Ballard. With only 1 Cup in almost 50 years of play Ballard promises a new age of glory for the Leafs and if he can't achieve that he promises to line his pocketbook with the fans money (ok he never actually said any of that).
