04/17/1973 - Giants Walk It Off for 7th Win of Season

Candlestick Park was sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.

The San Francisco Giants topped the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, in NL action at Candlestick Park. The player of the game was San Francisco first baseman Dave Kingman. San Francisco reliever Ron Bryant got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Cecil Upshaw was tagged with the loss.

The Giants got a big at-bat from catcher Mike Sadek. For the game, Sadek went 1 for 1. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave San Francisco a 4-3 lead.

"Feels good to get the job done," Kingman said after the game. He did his work by clubbing a homer off RHP Pat Dobson.

The Braves fall to 6-6 and continue their uneasy start to the 1973 season.
