04/26/1980 - Pirates Edge Past Cubs, 4-3
Wrigley Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs.
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Starting pitcher Bert Blyleven, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The win was Jim Bibby's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Willie Hernandez took the loss for Chicago.
John Milner, who is tied for 8th in the NL in home runs with 3, chipped in for Pittsburgh with a solo home run in the top of the 14th. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Blyleven told the Pittsburgh Gazette.
Pittsburgh, now 10-5, has played well in the early going.
