Having a hard time figuring out this James McCann thing. I don't fault the Tigers for not foreseeing his breakout this season but why didn't they bring him back in the first place? The team had no intention of promoting Jake Rogers this year and even if they did could he not learn behind a veteran at the MLB level for a bit? If it was a money thing, he made 2.375 million in 2018 and signed a one year deal for 2.5 million in last years free agency with Chicago. So am I missing an angle on this??
