In the bottom of the first, Titus had an RBI single.

Titus singled again in the bottom of the third to bring his season hit total to 50. Bransfield then got an RBI single to extend his hit streak to 15 games.

In the bottom of the fourth, Doolan booted a Sheckard grounder as Chance scored from third. Doolan committed a second error and the Cubs had the bases loaded with one out. Noonan, with his first hit of the season, gave the Cubs the lead with a two-run single.

In the bottom of the fourth, Thomas tied the game with a run-scoring single.

In the top of the sixth, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out. A passed ball then allowed Slagle to score the go-ahead run. Evers drew a walk and the bases were loaded again. A Tinker single then scored two.

After six: Chicago 6 Philadelphia 3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Magee got his 20th stolen base of the season. But he would be caught stealing third.

In the top of the eighth, Evers knocked one in with a double. A Tinker single scored Evers.

In the bottom of the eighth, a Lush single scored one. Then it was Thomas with an RBI single.

The Phillies would get no closer.

The two teams would combine for 25 hits.

Final score: Chicago 8 Philadelphia 5.
