Bear in mind that the game still thinks it's 2015, so it's going to be overly impressed by pitching performances that, back in the day, were regarded as routine. Today, we'd be amazed at a pitcher who, for instance, threw eleven innings and gave up only two earned runs, but in the early decades of baseball that was the kind of thing that was expected of a pitcher.
