1 - Corrie Sanders 13-0-0 (6) vs 16 - Kidane Mbogo 7-4-2 (1) - The fans knew it was going to be a short night when Sanders floored Mbogo with his first punch! Mbogo got up but was unable to defend himself and was knocked out with 1 minute left in round 1 Sanders improves to 14-0-0 (7)
2 - Francois Botha 13-1-0 (8) vs 15 - Akatelaji Ngowa 6-3-4 (2) - Francois Botha was cut under his right eye, had his mouth torn up, and his left eye nearly closed by a suprising Ngowa, but knocked Ngowa down 2 times to take a narrow UD. Botha improves to 14-1-0 (8)
3 - Peter Okhello 12-0-2 (5) vs 14 - Aldo Colliander 8-3-2 (1) - Okhello outboxes a game but nearly blinded Colliander to earn a 10 decision and remain undefeated at 13-0-2 (5)
4 - Daw Niyongabo 11-1-1 (2) vs 13 - Samuel Peter 9-3-0 (6) - Niyongabo did enough in my eyes to earn a draw, storming back in the last 3 rounds, but the judges handed Peter a majority decision, improving his record to 10-3-0 (6)
5 - Joseph Chingangu 11-2-0 (5) vs 12 - Sam Ubokane 6-3-3 (3) - Chingangu scored 4 knockdowns in his total domination of Ubokane....Chingangu improves to 12-2-0 (5)
6 - Duncan Dokiwari 10-2-1 (5) vs 11 - Ferid Kibowen 11-3-1 (5) - Dokiwari knocked Kibowen down 2 times in the 7th, then reopened a nasty cut over the right eye enroute to a 7 round TKO. The fight was dead even on all 3 cards to this point! Dokiwari improves to 11-2-1 (6)
7 - Teke Oruh 10-1-1 (4) vs 10 Yekuno - Amlak Hadainidi 12 -3-0 (5) - Oruh scores 3 knockdowns, the last one to end the fight with a dominating KO in 3! Oruh improves to 11-1-1 (5)
8 - Raymond Olubowale 10-2-2 (3) vs 9 - Yehlem Baya 8-3-2 (1) - Olubowale scored 2 knockdowns enroute to his route of Baya. Olubowale improves to 11-2-2 (4)
Light Heavyweights
1 - Mohamed Ali Ndiaye 13-0-0 (4) vs 16 Wankegh Kimaiyo 4-3-6 (1) - Ndiay came in a 9-1 favorite, knocked down Kimaiyo once in the 4th, but Kimaiyo showed great intestinal fortitude to climb back into the fight and earn a draw. 95-95 on all 3 cards! Ndiay moves to 13-0-1 (4) and Kimaiyo moves to 4-3-7 (1)
2 - Muhend Tamer 13-0-0 (3) vs 15 - Araya Nyamekye 5-4-3 (1) - Tamer parleyed 2 knockdowns into a slim unanimous decision over the smart Nyamekye. Tamer improves to 14-0-0 (3)
3 - Sakio Bika 11-0-1 (1) vs 14 - Kipkoskei Akil 8-4-1 (3) Both men scored knockdowns, and Bika was cut, but he proved himself the better fighter winning handily in 10 rounds to improve to 12-0-1 (1)
4 - Soon Botes 13-2-0 (2) vs 13 - Imazighen Mongo 8-4-2 (0) - Botes out danced Mongo to improve to 14-2-0 (2) in this rather mundane bout.
5 - Mohamed Azzaoui 9-1-3 (2) vs 12 - Massin Mwara 7-3-2 (3) - Azzaoui used a strong defense and quick hands to score a knockdown enroute to a 10 UD over the hapless Mwara. Azzaoui improves to 10-1-3 (2)
6 - Jerry Elliott 11-1-1 (3) vs 11 - Otheino Jamali 8-2-4 (0) - Elliott was the stronger of the 2 in the last 3 rounds, which made the difference in this one. Elliott improves to 12-1-1 (3) with the solid UD.
7 - Andre Thysse 8-2-1 (0) vs 10 Peter Mashamaite 10-2-2 (1) - Thysse suffered a broken nose and his left eye looked lumpier than an old pillow, but he fought back valliantly to earn a draw. Thysse moves to 8-2-2 (0) and Mashamaite's record goes to 10-2-3 (1). Rematch in 2 weeks!
8 - Rachid Kanfouah 10-2-0 (2) vs 9 Akawel Muthuri 9-5-0 (1) - Kanfouah built up a huge lead in the first 7 rounds before Muthuri scored a knockdown. Kanfouah then held on for a split decision 95-94 96-94 94-95 Kanfouah improves to 11-2-0 (2)
Middleweights
1 - Kassim Ouma 13-0-2 (5) vs 16 - Said Ouali 7-3-4 (2) - Both fighters put in a lackluster performance with Ouma recieving the nod with a 10 majority decision. Ouma remains unbeaten at 14-0-2 (5)
2 - Yokana Onindo 12-0-2 (2) vs 15 - Yirdaw Ukurugenzi 8-5-1 (2) - Onindo was on cruise control when Ukurugenzi scored a sudden knockdown! Onindo somehow got up to dominate the rest of the fight to earn a 10 UD and remain unbeaten at 13-0-2 (2)
3 - Mpush Makambi 11-2-0 (2) vs 14 - Salla Olu 9-4-1 (0) - Makambi used good movement and a piston like jab to cut up Olu on several occasions in this bout, with the bout finally being stopped in the 10th for a TKO on cuts. Makambi improves to 12-2-0 (2)
4 - Evans Ashira 10-1-1 (3) vs 13 - Johannis Chepkwony 9-5-1 (1) - Ashira scored a knockdown enroute to a dominant UD. Ashira improves to 11-1-1 (3)
5 - William Gare 10-2-2 (2) vs 12 - Azmera Mambo 8-2-2 (1) - This fight was decided in the 10th round when Gare dropped hard from Mambo. Gare got up, but lost the fight on a split decision. Gare was favored 7-1 coming in! Mambo improves to 9-2-2 (1)
6 - Aifell Louahla 10-2-1 (4) vs 11 - Beyene Apara 7-2-3 (1) - Louahla dominated Apara, knocking him down 3 times enroute to a 10 KO win! Louahla improves to 11-2-1 (5)
7 - Kofi Jantuah 9-2-1 (3) vs 10 - Kingsley Ikeke 9-3-0 (7) - Neither man went down in this war, both had swollen left eyes, though Ikeke's was shut at the end of this fight. Ikeke came on strong the last 3 rounds, and was pouring it on when the ref stopped the fight near the end of the 9th handing Ikeke a 9 TKO! was close on all 3 cards, but Ikeke avenges an earlier loss to Jantuah and improves to 10-3-0 (8)!
8 - Taha Muriithi 10-2-2 (2) vs 9 - Arabi Kimotho 10-2-1 (1) - Kimotho rodea knockdown in the 4th to a 10 UD, improving to 11-2-1 (1)
Welterweights
1 - Lucky Lewele 14-0-0(5) vs 16 - Zeleke Nadhim 7-3-3 (1) - Nadhim worked hard, built up a nice lead then walked into a left hook by Lewele that turned out the lights for the night in the 5th! Lewele moves to 15-0-0 (6)
2 - Jan Piet Bergman 12-0-1 (7) vs 15 - Ajose Olusegun 7-3-2 (3) - Bergman came out smoking, scoring 2 knockdowns in the 1st round, Olusegun fought his way back into the fight, then Bergman scored a KO on the second knockdown of the 8th to remain undefeated at 13-0-1 (8)
3 - Ike Quartey 12-0-2 (5) vs 14 - Firhoun Gacharia 9-3-3 (1) - Quartey scored 2 knockdowns enroute to a 6 TKO, improving his record to 13-0-2 (6)
4 - Naoufel Benrabah 12-1-0 (2) vs 13 - Wekesa Muhsin 8-6-1 (3) - Benrabah scored a TKO in the 3rd improving his record to 13-1-0 (3)
5 - Lovemore N'dou 11-0-2 (7) vs 12 - Joshua Clottey 9-2-1 (6) - N'dou and Clottey fought their hearts out, neither gaining the upperhand as this fight was correctly scored a draw N'dou is now 11-0-3 (7) and Clottey is now 9-2-2 (6). They'll meet again in 2 weeks!
6 - Emmanuel Clottey 12-1-2 (2) vs 11 - Tesema Wambukawo 10-2-2 (1) - Clottey scored an early knockdown enroute to a close decision in this entertaining bout. The 2 fighters were toe to toe throughout! Clottey moves to 13-1-2 (2)
7 - Ted Bami 11-1-1 (2) vs 10 - Ben Tackie 9-1-3 (2) - It was a Tackie kind of night with Ben knocking Bami down 2 times enroute to a 5 TKO! Tackie improves to 10-1-3 (3)
8 - Lawrence Ngobeni 12-2-1 (1) vs 9 - Peter Malinga 12-2-0 (2) - Ngobeni suffered a cut over his right eye, was knocked down in the 7th round, got up and took the fight to Malinga, earning a tough 10 round decision! Ngobeni improves to 13-2-1 (1)
Lightweights
1 - Cassius Baloyi 14-0-0 (4) vs 16 - Hisham Mteremo 7-3-2 (1) - Baloyi was too slick for Mteremo winning a 10 round decision handily. Baloyi remains undefeated at 15-0-0 (4)
2 - Daniel Attah 12-0-1 (1) vs 15 - Anthony Tshehla 11-1-1 (3) - Attah used relentless pressure and a stinging jab to batter and bloody a game Tshehla and score a 7 TKO on cuts. Attah keeps his undefeated record, improving to 13-0-1 (2)
3 - Paulus Moses 13-0-1 (2) vs 14 - Ali Funeka 10-4-0 (3) Moses couldn't part the sea this time around as Ali Funeka kept the pressure on all night long, earning a 10 decision and handing Moses his first loss! Funeka improves to 11-4-0 (3)
4 - Yakubu Amidu 12-1-1 (5) vs 13 - Wolde Kalamka 10-3-0 (1) - Despite being cut, Kalamka knocked Amidu down 2 times, once in the 6th, and once in the 10th. The difference maker was the point deducted from Amidu for low blows in the 10th, as Kalamka walked away with a 96-91 94-93 94-94 majority decision. Kalamka improves to 12-4-0 (3)
5 - Raymond Narh 11-2-1 (5) vs 12 - Justin Juuko 11-2-1 (3) - This was a W A R !! Both men stood toe to toe the entire fight, scoring at will. Narh was dropped in the 5th, barely getting up in time then taking a terrible beating that some thought should have been stopped. In the 6th, it continued, but somehow Narh turned the tide and reciprocated the knockdown, this one for a 10 count! Narh escapes with a 6 KO and improves to 12-2-1 (6)!
6 - Mzonke Fana 11-2-0 (1) vs 11 - Innocent Anyanwu 10-3-1 (3) - Good action bout here, but Fana was just too strong for Anyanwu, dropping him in the 8th enroute to a 10 UD. Fana improves to 12-2-0 (1)
7 - Yahya Kibaki 11-2-0 (0) vs 10 Patrick Malinga 10-3-1 (1) - Malinga opened a cut in the 2nd, then kept the pressure on, reopening the cut and forcing a 3 TKO on cuts. Malinga improves to 11-3-1 (2)
8 - Areda Kahini 9-3-1 (2) vs 9 Obote Ameme 10-3-0 (2) - Kahini plants Ameme 4 times in this bout enroute to a totally dominating 10 UD to improve his record to 10-3-1 (2)
Featherweights
1 - Gabula Vabaza 12-0-2 (3) vs 16 - Weihwa Sarahani 6-7-0 (0) - Vabaza knocks Sarahani down 2 times enroute to a lopsided 10 UD 99-88 100-87 100-87 to remain undefeated at 13-0-2 (3)
2 - Jackson Asiku 11-0-2 (2) vs 15 - Azar Kipkorir 8-4-1 (2) - Both men scored knockdowns in the monster battle that went back and forth. Asiku was just a bit stronger over the 10 rounds to pull out a 96-92 95-93 95-93 UD and improve to 12-0-2 (2)
3 - Lehlo Ledwaba 11-1-2 (3) vs 14 - Ahmad Mutahi 7-3-2 (2) - Ledwaba dominates Mutahi despite a nasty cut from an accidental head but that wouldn't stay closed, scoring a knockdown in the 4th to win 99-91 97-94 98-92 and improve to 12-1-2 (3)
4 - Thomas Mashaba 11-1-1 (3) vs 13 - Samuel Kebede 8-3-2 (0) - Mashaba knocks Kebede down early in the 1st round and pours it on before Christodoulou leaps in to stop the carnage at 2:43 of the 1st round! 1 TKO improves Mashaba's record to 12-1-1 (4)
5 - Simon Ramoni 11-1-1 (5) vs 12 - Ngouna Wanyika 7-4-2 (0) - Ramoni wins a snorefest 97-93 97-94 95-95 to improve to 12-1-1 (5)
6 - Yellel Jomo 9-1-2 (3) vs 11 - Menzu Mapira 10-2-2 (1) There are times I wish I'd remember to bring a book with me, and this fight was one of them! Mapira gets the win to imrpove to 11-2-2 (1).
7 - Smail Rifaa 7-1-4 (1) vs 10 - Asmerom Tsalani 8-3-2 (1) - Mildly entertaining bout results in a split decision with Rifaa winning 96-95 95-96 96-95 to improve to 8-1-4 (1)
8 - Wambua Ola 8-2-2 (4) vs 9 - Takalani Ndlovu 9-3-0 (4) - Good action bout that had ups and downs for both fighters, with Ola going down in the 6th before scoring the KO in the 9th. This was anyone's fight to this point! Ola improves to 9-2-2 (5)
Bantamweights
1 - Masibulele Makepula 11-0-2 (7) vs 16 - Azregh Konchellah 9-2-2 (4) - Makepula came into this tourney the #1 seed, favored 7-1 and walked out on the losing end of a curious split decision 95-96 95-96 97-93. I had it 97-94 for Makepula. Konchellah improves his record to 10-2-2 (4)
2 - Silence Mabuza 12-0-2 (8) vs 15 - Vuyisile Bebe 11-2-0 (1) - Mabuza silenced (sorry couldn't resist) Bebe in the 8th round with 3 knockdowns to remain undefeated at 13-0-2 (9)
3 - Iskinder Ankoma 12-1-0 (3) vs 14 - Badda Matu 9-3-3 (3) - Both fighters spent time on the canvas, but Matu's aggressiveness won this fight for him to improve to 10-3-3 (3) with a 10 SD 96-93 94-95 96-93.
4 - Alex Baba 12-2-1 (5) vs 13 - Amanzu Khalfani 8-3-3 (1) Baba came out landing bombs, dropping Khalfani 2 times in the 7th enroute to an 8 round TKO stopped on cuts. Baba improves to 13-2-1 (6)
5 - Evans Mbamba 11-1-2 (1) vs 12 - Yakubu Saeed 7-2-4 (0) Mbamba used superior ring presence to outpoint Saeed 98-95 98-92 97-93 and improve to 12-1-2 (1)
6 - Zounes Thabiti 10-2-1 (5) vs 11 - Teferra Migwi 8-2-3 (2) - No feeling out in this bout as Thabiti lands a shot that took the legs right out from under his opponent, scoring a 1 KO! Thabiti improves to 11-2-1 (6)
7 - Joseph Agbeko 12-2-0 (5) vs 10 - Kamau Sefu 9-4-1 (3) - Agbeko set the tone by knocking Sefu down in the 1st and 2nd rounds enroute to a dominant 99-91 (x3) UD to improve to 13-2-0 (5)
8 - Mbwana Matumla 12-3-1 (4) vs 9 - Habte Daud 9-1-2 (2) - Matumla knocked Daud down in the 7th then 2 more times in the 9th, the final one for the count! Matumla rides a 10 KO to improve his record to 13-3-1 (5)
Flyweights
1 - Zohle Mbityi 14-0-0 (3) vs 16 - Urge Jalali 7-4-1 (1) - Mbityi outlanded Jalali on a 2-1 ratio, yet somehow came out of this fight with a majority draw 95-95 95-95 96-95. The IBC needs to look into the way these African judges score their bouts! Mbityi goes to 14-0-1 (3) and Jalali goes to 7-4-2 (1). Rematch in 2 weeks.
2 - Nkosinathi Joyi 13-0-1 (8) vs 15 - Semer Murmaba 10-2-1 (2) - Joyi knocks Murmaba down in the 1st, then 3 times in the 2nd to score a 2 TKO and improve to 14-0-1 (9)
3 - Sithembele Kibiti 13-0-0 (7) vs 14 - Bekele Akono 8-4-1 (2) - Kibiti was dominating this fight when he finally landed the big bomb in the 6th to score a KO and improve to 14-0-0 (8)!
4 - Muvhuso Nedzanani 12-0-2 (7) vs 13 - Kadidu Matuma 6-4-2 (0) - Nedzanani knocked Matuma down in the 2nd then dominated the rest of the way to earn a decision 100-90 97-92 99-90 and remain unbeaten at 13-0-2 (7)
5 - Zukisani Kwayiba 11-2-0 (4) vs 12 - Zeggan Nnanna 6-4-4 (0) - Good action bout here as both men threw punches with abandon, but Kwayiba proved the stronger of the 2, scoring a KO in the 6th round to improve to 12-2-0 (5)
6 - Mawanda Sineko 11-2-0 (1) vs 11 - Yahya Sadiki 6-4-2 (2) - Sadiki came in a 6-1 underdog and pulled out a tough 95-95 96-95 96-94 majority decision that I felt was a draw Sadiki improves to 7-4-2 (2)
7 - Yellel Bandele 9-2-2 (0) vs 10 - Moruti Mthalane 10-1-2 (1) - In a dull but dirty fight, both men had a point deducted with Bandele coming out ahead 95-94 94-95 96-94 to improve to 11-1-2 (1)
8 - Kussil Wekessa 6-2-5 (0) vs 9 - Wolashe Mbui 9-3-2 (0) Mbui wins a 96-94 96-94 97-93 snoozefest to improve to 10-3-2 (0)

Rematches:

Zohle Mbityi again outworked Semer Murmaba but the judges scored the bout 95-95 94-96 96-94 for yet another draw. Rematch coming soon..again...lol

Lovemore N'dou fought a masterful fight yet the scoring was again rather odd 99-93 96-96 100-93 over Joshua Clottey. N'dou remains unbeaten at 11-0-3 and moves to the next round.

Andre Thysse scored a knockdown and did enough to hold off Peter Mashamaite to stay alive in this tourney. Thysse improves to 9-2-2 (0)

Mohamed Ali Ndaiye dominated Wankegh Kimaiyo in their rematch scoring a knockdown and cutting him badly along the way to a 7 TKO to remain undefeated at 14-0-1 (5)

Zohle Mbityi met with Semer Murmaba for a 3rd time, this time with Judges imported by the IBA to ensure fairness in the scoring due to the controversy's surrounding their first 2 meetings. Mbityi won 97-94 97-94 98-94 to improve to 16-0-2 (3).
