Former WBO HW champ, Steve Cunningham, received another title shot in the twilight of his career vs. the fearsome Russian Alexander Povetkin - making his 2nd title defense.

It just appeared to be a keep busy fight for the Russian who looked to be in control most of the fight. In the 8th Steve decided to take chances going after AP only to be dropped for a 3 count from an overhand right.

In the 9th, Steve came out gunning again but this time a hard combo dropped the champ for a count of 6. With time running out in the round, Steve kept up the pressure & kept punching until the ref stepped in after a hard hook landed @ 2:58 of the round.

AP was up 79-73 & 79-72 twice on the cards - the PL were dead even @ 223 each but Steve's accuracy was incredible @ 92% compared to 27% for AP.

Steve's now 10-1 @ HW & AP drops to 7-2.
