2 vets met for this strap when Tyrone Nurse vacated it to fight Ray Mancini for his IBO title. Nurse KO'd Edwin Rosario in the 4th & then was KO'd by Ray in 9.

So for the vacant IBF version, Lucas Matthysse in his 1st title fight met former champ, Kendall Holt. Holt lost his IBO belt to Mike Alvarado when Holt quit in the 6th with a hurt hand.

This fight ended in definitive fashion & Lucas opened the show with a huge right cross that dropped Holt for a 7 count. In the 2nd & 3rd, Holt more than held his own & took the fight to the big punching Argentine. In the fatal 4th, Holt was applying the pressure in the corner when Holt missed, Lucas didn't & a hard hook end matters @ 2:16.

The judges had the fight even (28-28) with Holt up 65 (21%) to 48 (11%) in PL.

Lucas improves to 19-0 (18 KO's) & Holt falls to 21-2 (13 KO's).
