Tigers jump out, bottom of 1, a Phil Cavaretta triple followed by an Andrew McCuthceon RBI single puts Detroit ahead 1-0 after 1.
Both pitchers go strong into the 4th when back to back 1 out walks to Cullenbine and Hatfield followed by a Sullivan Jr single, load the bases with 1 out. J.R. Richard runs a full count and Patterson walks the pitcher, and a run in for a 2-0 deficit. Tony Womack follows with a sac fly to make it 3-0 and Cavaretta piles on with a 1st pitch 2 run double for a 5-0 lead. After an error by 3B, , Walt Bond singles in Cavaretta to make it 6-0. Biggio walks to load the bases, and Cullenbine drills a 2 run single to blow it open, 8-0 Detroit after 4 full.
Cavaretta doubles in another in the 5th, scoring Sullivan Jr and Biggio's bases loaded walk plates Womack for a 10-0 lead after 5.
Cincy gets 2 in the 6th but this ones over by then. Detroit wins 10-2 to go up 3-2 in a series headed back to Cincy.
Richard tosses a complete game (9-3-2-2-4-10) and Cavaretta drives in 3.
