We now make a short excursion to Los Angeles for 3 games over the 4th of July weekend. The Angels just lost a pair of games in San Diego. We are 2-2 against them on the season, splitting 4 games here, April 29-May 2. They are 8th in scoring in the PCL with 4.24 runs per game (Portland is #4 with 4.50). The Angels are 7th in fewest runs allowed with 3.92 per game (Portland is #1 with 3.24). Their run differential is +25 and ours is +98, still 2nd in the Majors to San Diego's +107.

Flores will be making his 2nd attempt to become the first 13 game winner in the Majors. He allowed 1 run in 6 IP last time out, but had a no decision. He is now 3rd in the PCL in ERA.

Wertz is their #1 starter. There should be a rule that you do not have to face #1 starters in back to back games... Wertz allowed 2 runs in 8 IP for a win last time out. We faced him in the 1st series we played with the Angels and scored 4 runs in 7 IP, but he did not get a decision.
