It's a roster issue with Matt Villalta, your AHL goalie. His roster status is broken because of a bug moving NHL-contracted players from junior to the minors. We've got a fix for that in the next update, but to get it working again now just do this:
-turn Commissioner Mode on in Manager Options (manager menu)
-go to Villalta's player page and click on Edit
-check the "retired" box and click on save; this will remove his current team and contracted team
-uncheck the retired box, set the current team back to Ontario Reign and the contracted team to Los Angeles Kings, and click on save again
It should continue without a crash once you've done that.
