This hard hitting Mexican was a force in the Jr. Bantam ranks from 1990 to 1994. During that time, Borboa won the IBF Jr. Bantamweight Belt with a twelth round TKO of Robert Quiroga who was 20-0-0 prior to their bout. Borboa went on to defend his title five times bfore losing a split decision to Harold Grey. The rematch, which proved to be Borboa's final fight, was also a split decision with Grey again getting the nod. His first 16 victories were all stoppages and Borboa was only stopped twice himself. (Cauthtemoc Gomez and Pablo Valenzuela who were both undefeated when they fought Borboa)
