John Haynes flies out to left. Randy Hobson grounds one to short, but Dave Lesley makes a bad throw for a 2 base error. Already his 3rd of the season... He was brought in here for his glove... Miguel Favela pops out to short. Mark Fenik lines one hard to center, but Perry Templet runs it down!
Bottom of the First:
Perry Templet grounds a 3-1 pitch to short for an out. He refuses to draw a walk... Dennis Webb swings at a 3-1 pitch and grounds out to the pitcher... Dale Ainsworth swings at a 2-1 pitch and lines out to 2nd.
Top of the Fifth:
John Pauley leads off with a hit and then Bryan Nolen doubles to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. After P Dennis Warrington strikes out, John Haynes lines out to left and Pauley beats the throw home. 1 to 0, Rainiers.
Top of the Sixth:
With 2 outs and the bases empty, Terry Singers lines a home run to left. 2 to 0, Rainiers.
Bottom of the Seventh:
With 1 out, Howard McNeal reaches on a 2 base error by SS Ryan Nolen. With 2 outs, Gary Long singles him home. 2 to 1, Rainiers.
Top of the 9th:
New Pitcher: Antoine Redd (30-R). With 1 out, Rodger Moreno singles and with 2 outs, SS Dave Lesley boots another one for his 2nd error of the day and 4th already this season. They let P Larry Herbon, their closer, bat, but he singles and Moreno scores.... 3 to 1, Rainiers. That ends our Bullpen's scoreless streak at 17.2 innings, though they still have not allowed an earned run.
Bottom of the Ninth:
On the Hill: Larry Herbon (25-R), their closer, beginning his 2nd inning of work. With 1 out, Howard McNeal draws a walk and with 2 outs, Gary Long singles to put the tying run on base and bring the wining run to the plate. It is Dave Lesley, who could make up for his 2 miscues here. A wild pitch puts both runners in scoring position and a base hit could tie they game! Lesley strikes out.... He is not endearing himself to me....
