In the West, Tempe was viewed as an improved team with a chance to win the conference. Tyler Craig, Jon Garcia, and John Howard were considered some of the better pitchers in the league entering the season.

Mesa was still considered a strong contender as well. With Matt Bracken and Ian Fraser leading the offense, they also expected to get strong pitching from Bobby Compton once again.

Glendale was viewed as an improved team, and considered a serious playoff contender once again. The addition of Josh Sheppard was viewed as an excellent move.

Phoenix was considered to be a below average team despite reigning MVP Devin Carlson leading their offense.

Prescott was viewed as a team that could lose more than 80 games on the season. There were no players mentioned as possible stars when the team was discussed.
