In the bottom of the first, the Angels loaded the bases with one out. Alomar singled in a run for his 40th RBI of the season. Cardenas followed with a walk that forced in another run. Kosco then beat out the 5-4-3 allowing Stanton to score from third.

After three: California 3 Texas 0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Spencer added an RBI single.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Don Rose took the mound for the Angels.

After six: California 4 Texas 0.

In the top of the seventh, with a runner on second and one out, Dave Sells took the mound for the Angels. Pinch hitter Larry Biittner put the Rangers on the board with an RBI single. The Rangers then loaded the bases with one out. Nelson and Wynn then flew to center back-to-back to retire the side.

Jim Shellenback took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the seventh.

After a leadoff walk in the top of the eighth, Eddie Fisher took the mound for the Angels.

Final score: California 4 Texas 1.
