3000th hit. In the National League it was predicted to be close affair. Nothing surprising there. But in the American League, the Boston Red Sox were the favored, but are in the
middle of the pack on a mild streak. The big surprise is the Cleveland Indians and their big start. Lead by Bill Terry (.417 avg) and Ted Gullic (12 HR and 39 RBIs).
