NASHVILLE PREDATORS GAMES #42-48

GAME #42

Bruins 2
Predators 4

Shots on Goal: 32-27


Predators score two third period goals to get the 4-2 win over the Bruins. Jake Milan had a fantastic game for the Predators, scoring a goal recording four shots on net, and leading the team with seven blocked shots. The top line for Nashville was buzzing around the Bruins net all game, ending with ten shots and one goal. Colin Martinhook had a quiet game, being a non-factor for most of the contest.

GAME #43

Predators 2
Panthers 7

Shots on Goal: 36-34



Panther offense explodes in 7-2 lead by Paul Bittner who had 2 goals and an assist. The Lewis-Martinhook pairing had a very rough outing finishing -3 in just nine and a half minutes of ice time. The top pairing of Holm-Parkkonen didn’t fare any better finishing -3. The top line was a bright spot for the Predators finishing with thirteen shots on goal and an even rating. Unfortuanately, the depth lines for the Predators struggled defensively.

GAME #44

Predators 4 (OT)
Sabres 3

Shots on Goal: 33-41



Ed Sharp scores the game winning goal in overtime as Predators get a hard earned 4-3 victory on the road. Philip Holm had a nice bounce back game recording an assist, three shots on goal, and a couple of blocked shots. Rookie, Ed Sharp had a great game scoring a goal, while racking up three shots and six hits. The fourth line played a solid game in their limited time on the ice. Filip Forsberg, despite finishing pointless and -1, had a good game registering four shots on net and four hits.

Shots on Goal: 31-27



Mike Smith has a rough game allowing five goals on just 27 shots, while Connor McDavid, Claude Giroux, and Hunter Shinkaruk all have two assists in the 5-2 win. The Milan-Seabrook pairing struggled in this one, getting pinned in their own zone for much of the game on route to finishing -2. Felix Girard had a great game for the Predators finishing with six shots, three hits, and three takeaways. The Bailey-Haula-Vitale line struggled defensively ending the game a -2.

GAME #46

Leafs 6
Predators 2

Shots on Goal: 31-33



Toronto score four goals in the first, cruise to a 6-2 victory over the Predators. The Seabrook-Milan pairing struggled, getting pinned inside their own zone for extended periods of time and finishing -3, although they did throw five hits each. Nashville’s top line had their chances, generating eight shots, but had some defensive breakdowns finishing the night -2. The fourth line was solid for the Predators despite finishing -1, sustaining consistent offensive pressure throughout the game.

Hurricanes 2
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 38-33



Louis-Philip Guindon makes 36 saves, but the offense can’t pick him up as the Predators drop their third straight, this time by a 2-1 margin. Jammu Parkkonen was good for the Predators recording two shots, two blocked shots, and finishing the game a +1. The pairing of Trey Lewis and Colin Martinhook struggled, unable to get any offense going and finishing the game -1. Josh Bailey had a very good game despite being held without point, leading the team with five shots on goal while throwing two hits. Filip Forsberg also had a good game registering four shots on goal, three hits, and two takeaways.

GAME #48

Kings 4
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 30-23



Predators manage just 23 shots, as they fall to the Kings 4-1 on home ice. The top pairing of Parkkonen and Holm had a rough game, finishing a combined -3 with just one shot on goal. The top line struggled to generate any sort of consistent offensive finishing the game with just three shots on goal. The Haula-Bailey-Vitale line struggled defensively finishing the game -2. Pontus Aberg played an excellent game for the Predators registering three shots in just over seven and a half minutes of ice time. After the game it was announced that Louis-Philip Guindon would be day to day with hip injury.

TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Predators trade 27 year-old C Felix Girard and 36-year old Joe Vitale in exchange for 20-year old C Yves Blanchette, 37 year-old RW Rick Nash, and 28 year old RD Andy Welinski.

Girard has 11 points in 32 games for the Predators this season while Vitale has 5 points in 28 games for Nashville. Blanchette has 2 points in 37 games for the Oilers, Nash has 19 points in 43 games with the Oilers, and Welinksi has 0 points in 2 games in the AHL.

Yves Blanchette is a big center who has great playmaking ability, a good shot, decent physicality, and a responsible defensive game. Yves biggest weaknesses are his hockey sense and his foot speed.

Rick Nash is expected to fill in on the 2nd line, while Yves Blanchette is penciled in the 3C spot.
