As the area has had many racing names for their teams, like Pacers, Racers, and the Colts, Fever, Ice, there are a couple of defunct teams names that are out there for Indianapolis.

In 1878 season, the Indianapolis Blues played in the National League for that season, finishing fifth of 6 teams. One gentleman had a 1.69 ERA with 5-8 record.

In the 1949-1953 seasons in the NBA, the Indianapolis Olympians had at best a short time in the league, due to two of their players being banned from the NBA for a cheating scandal in college.

The Indiana Speed is a women's football team playing in the Women's Football Alliance. Indy Impalas are a division 1 rugby team of US Rugby.

Other team names in sports history I found were Athletics, Blast, Blaze, Capitals, Capitols, Clowns, Firebirds, Hoosiers (Federal League, American Association, National League), Jets, Twisters to name some of the more recognizable teams in Indianapolis sports history.

Good Luck! Of course IRL Indianapolis would never get a team because Chicago with both their teams, and Cincinnati would object most to a team going there. St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Detroit, would lose some fans as well... though not as much as Chitown and Cincy.
