  • Baltimore Baybirds 2B Paul Curley reached the 2000 hit milestone August 20th at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore against Cincinnati. For his career he has a .292 average, with 246 home runs and 976 RBI.
  • The Montreal Royales were officially eliminated from the playoffs on August 21st.
  • The Milwaukee Chiefs were officially eliminated from the playoffs on August 22nd. The Chiefs last appeared in the playoffs in 1925, a 55 season drought.
