• Philadelphia closer Mark Farley has been lost for the year due to a hamstring strain. He has a 1.53 ERA and 35 saves on the season.
• Baltimore Baybirds 2B Paul Curley reached the 2000 hit milestone August 20th at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore against Cincinnati. For his career he has a .292 average, with 246 home runs and 976 RBI.
• The Montreal Royales were officially eliminated from the playoffs on August 21st.
• The Milwaukee Chiefs were officially eliminated from the playoffs on August 22nd. The Chiefs last appeared in the playoffs in 1925, a 55 season drought.
• Pittsburgh hurler Brand Stafford put on quite a show as he blitzed the Los Angeles Bluebirds with a 4-0 shutout. He allowed 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking no one. He is 12-9 with a 5.19 ERA on the season.
• The Brooklyn Atlantics were eliminated from the playoffs on August 24th. This is the 7th consecutive season they have failed to reach the postseason.
