Philadelphia Phillies C Tim McCarver will miss up to 4 months and was placed on the DL. The 28 year old is hitting .234 with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs in 19 games. The 3 time All Star and 1969 Gold Glover led the NL with 13 triples in 1966. McCarver made his MLB debut at age 17 for the Cardinals. McCarver has already won 2 World Series Rings (1964, 1967) and had a chance for a 3rd, but the Tigers came back from being down 3-1 in the series to win the 1968 title.

The Montreal Expos have released RP Ken T Johnson. The 36 year old was 0-0 with 2 saves, a 0.00 ERA in 3 games (3.1 IPs) Johnson won a World Series Ring with the 1969 Yankees. It appears that its the end of the line for Johnson as he is rumored to be headed to West Palm Beach and coach for the Palm Beach University. Johnson is the only pitcher to be credited with a "No Hitter" and loss in the same game.

The Atlanta Braves have signed free agent RP Ron Kline. The 38 year old has not pitched yet this season, he was released by the Red Sox in January 1970. Last season Kline pitched on 3 teams, the Pirates, Giants and Red Sox. He was 0-1 with 6 saves and a 1.50 ERA in 38 games in 1969. Kline led the league in losses in 1956 (18) and 1958 (16). In 1965 Kline led the league with 29 saves as well.
