The St Louis Cardinals have traded CF
Willie Montanez to the Philadelphia Phillies to compensate the Phillies for
Curt Flood not reporting for the October 1967 deal. The 22 year old Montanez has not had an at bat this season, he did go 0-2 in 1966 in 8 games with the Angels. Montanez was originally drafted by the Cardinals in 1965 and was taken by the Angels in the Rule 5 draft. In May 1966, the Angels returned him to the Cardinals.
The Chicago Cubs have released SP
Ken T Johnson. The 36 year old was 3-4 with a 3.05 ERA in 16 games including 6 starts for the Yankees (4) and Cubs (2) in 1969, Johnson has yet to pitch in 1970. Johnson won a World Series ring with the Yankees in 1969. Johnson is best know for his 1-0 loss in a "no hitter" he pitched in April 1964 for the Colt 45s. The Montreal Expos have signed the free agent Johnson.
