Despite getting ten hits and three Cardinals errors, the Cubs were only able to score two runs in the opener at St Louis. Today is the second game of the series against the Cardinals.

In the top of the first, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. A Steinfeldt single scored two. Slagle followed with a walk to again load the bases with one out. That led to a 3-RBI triple by Tinker. Kling then brought Tinker home with a groundout to second. The Cubs batted around the order and scored six runs in the inning.

In the top of the second, it was Chance with the inside the park home run with a man on base. Tinker almost had another RBI but Steinfeldt was thrown out at home by Shannon while trying to score from second on a single.

In the top of the third, a throwing error by Grady on a sacrifice bunt by Reulbach allowed Kling to score from second. Then a Chance double scored two.

After three: Chicago 11 St Louis 0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bennett got the Cardinals on the board with an inside the park home run.

Art Fromme took the mound for the Cardinals in the top of the sixth inning.

After six: Chicago 11 St Louis 1.

The Cubs would go on to out hit the Cardinals 14-6.

Final score: Chicago 11 St Louis 1.
