1946-1947 Season in Review
St. Louis finished first overall but it is 2nd place Chicago taking the Cup by defeating Toronto.
St. Louis sweeps the scoring stats with Pittman leading in goals and St. Pierre leading in assists and points.
Montreal's Justin Durston wins goalie of the year and sets a new save% record at .915.
At nemolee.exe's suggestion I'll try and make contribution clearer.
VOTE: Will Philadelphia get a team for the 1948-1949 season? 2 seasons from now.
Len Peto is proposing to build a 20,000 seat arena on Baker street to be called the Baker Bowl. If completed will we allow him to purchase the dormant Wanderers (in real History it was the Maroons) franchise? The minor league Philadelphia Rockets are opposing the move and will claim indemnities from the NHL if we proceed.
Philadelphia as of 1940 was the 3rd largest Urban Area in the US. It could be a great market despite the failures of the previous franchise.
What about names? Pay for the Rockets name? Ramblers? Quakers? Arrows? Or go with a new name that has alliteration?
In other news:
Several NHL arena owners (New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto, St. Louis, Detroit and Pittsburgh) are looking to make extra money by booking basketball games from the new Basketball Association of America. We doubt the sport will ever catch on.
VOTE: Do we interfere with arena owners to kill the new sport or leave it be? Leaving it be could impact which cities are able to support NHL franchises in the future.
