Montreal Canadiens (18-8-1) at Los Angeles Kings (9-12-6)

Montreal need a win badly as they have lost 3 straight on this road trip. The Final game takes us to the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Montreal are currently in 2nd place in the East, 2 points behind the Bruins who have played one more game. Columbus is 3 points behind Montreal and have played 2 games less then the Canadiens. Montreal rank 15th with 30 shots per game, but the need for a snipper and power play quarterback is evident by the fact Montreal are only ranked 26th in goals for. Montreal hold the opposition to just 26 shots per game, ranked 3rd in the NHL.

RW Scott Rous was born in Carduff, SK about 3 hours SE of Regina. The 21 year old is an offensive forward with strong skating ability based on what the scouts say. Rous has been playing on the 4th line in the role of a speedy forward. In 13 games this season he has 1 goal and 3 points with 2 PIMs. Montreal signed him as a free agent in July this year. Rous has 48 career NHL games under his belt, he has 4 goals 10 points with 6 PIMs.

The Kings are currently 13th in the West with 24 points, they are 6 points out of the final playoff spot. The Kings take a lot of shots, they average 33 a game for 9th place in the NHL. They give up 28 shots a night which ranks them 8th in the NHL.

The Kings will start G Jan Copithorne, the 21 year old has 5 wins with a 3.33 GAA and .878 save % in 18 games this year. Montreal does get it back and tie the score 2-2 as RW Samuel Hebert gets his 9th of the year at 8:33. Montreal grabs a 3-2 lead at 10:01 of the 2nd when LW Robert Hendriksson gets his 4th of the season. But the Kings again tie it at 3-3 as LW Jose Mendoza gets his 7th of the year at 12:42. The shots were 13-10 Montreal in the 2nd.

The Kings grab a 4-3 lead at 5:06 of the 3rd as LW Isak Karlsson gets his 7th of the season. The Kings go up 5-3 at 14:03 of the period when C Jerry Scott gets his 8th of the year. Shortly after that, the Kings continue to embarrass Montreal with a 6-3 goal at 14:45 when RD Oliver Ramirez gets his 4th. The final shots were 47-25 for Los Angeles as they take 27 shots in the 3rd period. Montreal was 0 for 3 on the PP and the Kings were 1 for 2.

Los Angeles Kings RW Curtis Ernest had 2 assists and was the 1st star. The 20 year old now has 7 goals and 24 points with 41 PIMs in 28 games. In his 3rd season as an NHLer, he had a career high of 15 goals in 1981-82.
