New York Islanders (10-5-4) at Montreal Canadiens 16-5-1)

Montreal stay home at the Bell Center to face the Islanders, it is the 1st meeting of the season for the two clubs. Montreal lead the East with a 1 point lead on Boston, but Montreal has played one less game. Meanwhile Columbus is 5 back with 2 games in hand. Montreal's PP struggles continue, they are ranked 26th with a 9.3% success rate. Montreal is 3rd on the PK with a 90.9% kill rate.

Again the 2nd period is all Montreal. Picek holds off Montreal as the Canadiens out shot the Islanders 15-2 in the 2nd period but hold just a 1-0 lead.

Montreal's inability to take advantage of their chances comes back to bite them as the Islanders tie the game 1-1 at 1:05 of the 3rd when LW Kel Meeks gets his 4th of the year. Montreal gets the 2-1 lead when LD Lance Lambright gets his 4th of the year at 15:18. Montreal hangs on for the win. Montreal out shot the Islanders 10-9 in the period and 38-14 in the game.
