The Pirates cashed in a bunt single and an error in the top of the first with Wagner scoring on a Beaumont grounder to second.

After three: Pittsburgh 1 Chicago 0.

In the top of the fourth, Wagner scored again, this time from second on a Ritchey single.

In the top of the fifth, Wagner tripled for his third hit of the game, bringing home Gibson from first in the process.

After six: Pittsburgh 3 Chicago 0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gibson caught Chance stealing second. It was the 10th time this season, Gibson threw out a would be base stealer. The Cubs would, however, load the bases with one out. Tinker flew out to right without bringing home a run and then Kling struck out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Cubs again loaded the bases with one out. Tinker put them on the board with an RBI single. Kling hit a fly ball to right for the second out. Pinch hitterSilly Hofman then grounded to first to end the game.

Final score: Pittsburgh 3 Chicago 1.

The Pirates got runners at the corners with two out in the top of the ninth but Clarke grounded to Tinker to end the game.
