As an FYI in terms of what I'm saying about being unable to add plays, you can't edit the fields when you're trying to add a NEW play to the playbook in-season.
I'm not trying to edit an existing play, I realize that's verboten by your post and the help file, but the only way to add new plays to the playbook in-season is by generating them through Guided Play Generation and Generate Plays. When I click "Add Play" which is adding a new play to the playbook I can't do so.
