Montreal Canadiens (49-29-4) at Buffalo Sabres (48-26-8)
Buffalo leads series 1-0.

Well the old adage is that if your the road team, you need to split the first two games to take away home advantage, and thats what we need to do tonight. Montreal had a terrible night on special teams in game one, giving up 2 SH goals and 2 PP goals.

RW Ronnie Marvin has indicated that he will check the market and become a free agent. The 28 year old has 4 goals, 13 assists for 17 points this year. The two way forward has been splitting time between 3rd and 4th lines for Montreal. Against Buffalo he centered the 3rd line, they were a -1 in game one. Marvin did get some playoff experience in the Habs Cup run in 80-81 where he played in 21 games, had 3 goals and 6 points with 31 PIMs and a +5 rating. Marvin has 22 career NHL goals in 212 career games.

Both Montreal and Buffalo will start the same goalies for game 2. It's Mike Blackshear for Montreal and Aleksey Zhavronkov for Buffalo.

Montreal came out of the gate strong they had 14 shots on goal before Buffalo got their 1st, but Buffalo scored on it. LW Reece Fraser scores at 9:50 of the 1st and its 1-0. Montreal does get it back quickly as C Dave Wright gets his 1st of the playoffs at 10:04 and its 1-1. Montreal continues to put pressure on the Sabres but the period ends 1-1 with the Canadiens out shooting the Sabres 29 to 6.

Montreal goes up 2-1 at 3:03 of the 2nd when C Dave Wright gets his 2nd of the night. But like Montreal's 1st goal, the Sabres answered back quickly at 3:18 when LW Bubba Penn gets his 1st of the playoffs and its now 2-2. The scoring parade continues, Montreal takes a 3-2 lead at 5:01 when RD Marek Bartolcic gets his 1st career playoff goal. Montreal goes up 4-2 at 17:09 of the 2nd, RD Matej Ouhrabka gets his 1st of the playoffs. Montreal gets one more before the end of the 2nd, LD Marc-Andre Berube gets his 1st of the playoffs at 19:34 to make it a 5-2 lead. The shots were 16 to 12 for Montreal. Both teams are 0 for 1 on the PP.

Buffalo closes the gap to 5-3 as LD Jonathan Boily gets his 1st of the playoffs at 3:55. Montreal gets some breathing room back at 11:04 when RW John Herrod gets his 1st of the playoffs to make it 6-3. Montreal does a much better job staying out of the box and on special teams. Both teams were 0 for 2 on the PP, Montreal out shot Buffalo 8 to 3 in the 3rd.

Montreal's C Dave Wright was the 1st star, he had 2 goals and an assist. The 27 year old now has 2 goals and 4 points in 2 playoff games this year. He played 21 games in the Canadiens Cup win in 1980-81. In 23 career playoff games, he has 9 goals, 20 points, 14 PIMs and a +9 rating. Series is tied 1-1.
