Our old friend Harry Lyerly started the 1976 season in the Portland Wild Things bullpen but was cut by that team in early May.
Fortunately for him, the SJL's Philadelphia Mud Hens decided to take a chance on him and signed him to a minor league contract a few days later.
Harry has made his way into the Philadelphia starting rotation and has done a fine job thus far, including hurling an 8-hit shutout against the Washington Night Train yesterday.
Nice to see that Harry still has some career left in him. He is, after all, only 28 years old. Here's hoping to many more good seasons for the hard-throwing righty, especially if they all happen in the SJL and not against our Brewers.
