One of our personal White Whales beached itself on eBay on Valentine's Day. Kevin Rhomberg, who played parts of three seasons with the Cleveland Indians but was missing in action for many folks, made his Vault debut. There has been some very low res color of Rhomberg around, but the man who went on to went on to become head baseball coach at Cleveland State University in the 90s never had so much as a Rookie Stars card despite hitting .383 (18-for-47) in his three cups of coffee 1982-84.
Rod Carew once called him "that crazy kid in Cleveland" and Men's Fitness magazine once named him one of the 10 most superstitious athletes in sports due to his "touch me, touch you" compulsion.
A legit hitter, Rhomberg once hit .372 in the Class AA Southern League.
