White Sox 60's farmhands

Here are John Gray and Haley Young , both of whom played in the final years of Negro league baseball for the Indianapolis Clowns. Both men were signed by the Chicago White Sox. Gray was first an outfielder who took up a catcher's mitt. He was not outstanding at the plate but good enough for a backstop of that era. John Gray played from '56 to '60 never advancing above C ball.

Haley Young Jr. was the more accomplished of the two hitting 16 home runs at Class A in 1965. Both were briefly classmates at the Colored high school of Ft. Lauderdale in the 1950's which is now Dillard High School, the alma mater of the NFL's Bennie and Brian Blades.
