2063 Season:

The PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES won yet another World Series, defeating the Boise Hawks in 7 games. The Hawks became the third consecutive MiLB team to play in the World Series.

The CHARLESTON RIVERDOGS were relegated to the Pit of Despair. They finished 48-113, finishing three games behind the Iowa Cubs for last place.

144 teams remain in Major League Baseball...

In Memoriam: Charleston RiverDogs

A- New York Yankees

A Teams Remaining: 23

Yankees Affiliates Remaining: 4/6

All Time Record: 3463-3966 (.466)

Best Season: 2054, 95-67, 20th place

Best Hitter: Chris Otway (2032-2044)

One of the game's all time great hitters, Otway was a first round pick by El Paso in 2031. Just a season later, he was traded to Charleston for third baseman Andy Watson, who never did much of anything. Otway, on the other hand, would go on to be worth 87.1 WAR and hit 517 home runs, 372 of which came with the RiverDogs. His best season came in 2036, when he won a Silver Slugger and led the league with 9.6 WAR, finishing third in MVP voting. Six years later, he won a gold glove at 3B. Otway was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2053, and his #39 has been retired by Charleston.

Best Pitcher: Ken Weiss (2033-2043)

A former ace, Weiss' career overlapped significantly with Otway's, and he too would have been a Hall of Famer if it weren't for a tragic ending. His 3.37 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, and 56.5 WAR are all #1 in Charleston history. In 2039, he led the league with a 2.06 ERA, finishing 2nd in Cy Young voting. In July of that season, he threw a perfect game against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. In 2044, Weiss signed a 5-year deal with Hartford. After struggling through his first season, Weiss bounced back in 2045 until suffering a torn labrum in mid June. This injury turned out to be career-ending, and Weiss was released by the team, never to pitch again.

Notes:

Gwinnett 2B Phil Dumont led the league with 63 home runs and 10.6 WAR, winning his second consecutive MVP.

Lakeland RF Esteban Ojeda led the league with a .381 batting average.

Vermont CF Josh Walewski struck out 269 times. It was the second highest K total in a single season, behind only Carlos Perez's untouchable record of 290 strikeouts in 2036.

Inland Empire CF Jeff Perry hit 60 doubles.

Auburn SP Jim Cave led the league with a 1.93 ERA.

Oklahoma City SP Nickolas Lewis led the league with 21 wins, a 0.87 WHIP, and exactly 300 strikeouts. 8 years ago, Lewis was picked 1447th in the draft, but he was the league's top prospect just two seasons later, and he finished 2nd in Cy Young voting this year.

Burlington Royals closer Bob Beach has currently converted 70 consecutive save opportunities, giving him the 5th longest streak of all time. He saved 42 games this year and struck out 14.5 batters per 9 innings.

43-year-old CF Ronnie Baker put together a 3.6 WAR season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving him 121.5 WAR for his career. That number puts him 15th all time, just behind Rogers Hornsby. Baker shows no signs of slowing down, and he is under contract for two more seasons after this one.

The Minnesota Twins were the worst MLB team, going 71-90 and finishing in 115th place.
