Dave Robles was still a raw kid when the Washington Night Train scouting staff discovered him on the sandlots of the Dominican Republic but at age 22 it is starting to look like Robles could be blossoming into one of the best arms in the game. He is one of the harder throwers in the league, good at inducing ground balls, and should be able to keep the ball in the yard more times than not. He has a reputation as a good teammate, should be able to pitch pretty deep into games, and has a strong 3-pitch repertoire. He could still battle poor control at times, but he's off to a good start and the sky is the limit. His performance this past month puts him into the discussion for SJL Rookie of the Year and earned him Rookie of the Month honors for May.



The Denver Brewers have never had a Rookie of the Year. But it looks like they should have a few very strong candidates this year in Sadahige Kawasaki and May's MGL Rookie of the Month, Rodrigo "RodRod" Rodriguez. RodRod has been on fire at the plate and has taken over as the Brewers starting third baseman, leading to the trade of Mike Foster to Boston for closer Tim Shore. And according to the latest reports from the Brewers scouting staff, RodRod is expected to continue to be a strong investment and one of the better third sackers in the league for the foreseeable future.
