In the bottom of the first, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Steinfeldt grounded back to the pitcher and Sheckard was forced at home for the second out. Tinker then grounded to short to end the inning.

After three: Brooklyn 0 Chicago 0.

In the top of the fifth, Lumley broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single. The Superbas went on to load the bases with one out. Casey then beat out the 5-4-3, allowing Lumley to score from third. Jordan then scored on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hofman scored from third when Evers grounded out to second.

Schulte singled in the bottom of the sixth to run his hit streak to 13 games.

After six: Brooklyn 3 Chicago 1.

In the bottom of the eighth, Schulte tied the game with a two run single. Hofman then delivered an inside the park home run with two men on. A five run eighth turned what could have been a Brooklyn win into a sweep for the Cubs.

Final score: Chicago 6 Brooklyn 3.
