The Rangers have lost 9 of their last 10 and go to Cleveland to face the Indians for three games. Cleveland has the worst record in all of baseball but has won 4 of their last 5.

The Reds lost 2B Joe L Morgan for the year due to a torn calf muscle.

The Cubs lost SP Rick Reuschel for the year because of a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Even with the worst record in the majors, the matchups favor the Indians.

Broberg had to leave in the second inning after injuring his foot. Paul Lindblad took over pitching duties for the Rangers with a runner on first and one out. And he got the final two outs of the inning.

The Rangers latest scoreless streak reached 15 innings.

After three: Texas 0 Cleveland 0.

Mincher ended that streak in the fourth with a sac fly RBI.

With two out in the bottom of the fifth, Horacio Pina replaced Lindblad and got the final out.

After six: Texas 1 Cleveland 0.

After a leadoff single by Harris in the seventh, Tom Hilgendorf replaced Lamb on the mound. Hilgendorf only lasted two batters before he also left the game with an injury. With runners at the corners and one out, Vince Colbert became the new Indians pitcher. Colbert struck out Pina to record his first K of the season but then walked Maddox to load the bases. Harrah then walked on four pitches to collect his 20th RBI of the season. An infield single by Nelson scored another run. Burroughs then reached 50 RBI on the season, clearing the bases with a 3 run double to complete the 5 run inning.

Pina struck out Unser in the bottom of the seventh to record his 30th K of the season.

The pitcher for the Indians in the ninth was Dick Baney. Pina remained on the mound for Texas and completed the shutout.

Final score: Texas 6 Cleveland 0.
