A brutal mismatch does not bode well for the Rangers to end their losing streak. The series has been close this season with the Royals winning 4 and Texas winning 3.

Stop me if you've heard this before. The Rangers committed an error in the first inning and the Royals loaded the bases with two out. Fortunately for Texas, Schaal popped out to end the inning without a run scoring.

The Rangers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the third. Nelson then cleared them with a triple to break the 20-RBI barrier on the season.

After three: Texas 3 Kansas City 0.

In the top of the fifth, Gogolewski scored for the second time in the game, this time on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Royals put runners on the corners with two outs and the Rangers made a quick pitching change and brought in Mike Paul and he got Rojas to fly out to end the inning.

After six: Texas 4 Kansas City 0.

Texas had a chance to add to the lead but Suarez was thrown out at home trying to score from second after a single by Nelson.

Casey Cox came in to pitch the bottom of the seventh. Schaal broke up the shutout with an RBI double. Rojas tried to add an RBI single but Schaal was thrown out at home trying to score from second.

Burroughs got the lead back to 4 by leading off the eighth with a home run.

Al Fitzmorris replaced Dal Canton in the ninth. And Horacio Pina replaced Cox.

Final score: Texas 5 Kansas City 1.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Dave Nelson 2 for 4, 3B, 3 RBI.
