Allen got the scoring going right away with an RBI single in the top of the first. Chicago then loaded the bases with two out and Johnstone cleared them with an inside-the-park grand slam. That brought Johnstone's RBI total on the season to 40.

Nelson singled in the bottom of the first to stretch his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Rangers loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the third and Lovitto put them on the board with an RBI single.

Chicago made a pitching change in the bottom of the fifth with a runner on first and two out and brought in Steve Kealey and Kealey got the final out.

Taking the mound for Texas in the seventh was Casey Cox. Rich Gossage did the same for Chicago.

A streaker ran out onto the field in the top of the eighth and got levelled by the first base umpire.

Mike Paul was brought on in the ninth. Chicago loaded the bases with two out but Kelly had to leave the game with an injury. Andrews then added a 2 run single.

Terry Forster pitched the ninth for Chicago. And he ended it with the 1-2-3 inning.
