The latest baseball rumor circulating is the Atlanta Braves might trade 1B Orlando Cepeda in the off-season.

In the top of the first, Wynn put the Rangers on the board with an RBI double.

Paul had a no-hitter through three.

After three: Texas 1 Minnesota 0.

Carew singled with one out in the bottom of the fourth to break up the no-hitter.

In the top of the sixth, Billings brought a pair home with a two out double.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers.

After six: Texas 3 Minnesota 0.

With one out in the top of the eighth, Bob Gebhard took the mound for the Twins. Harrah hit a solo home run.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth. Without getting a hit, the Twins loaded the bases with nobody out. Carew tied the game with a grand slam. Casey Cox immediately replaced Pina.

Wayne Granger took the mound for the Twins in the top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Twins got the winning run on first but Tovar grounded to third to end the inning.

After nine: Texas 4 Minnesota 4.

Jim Strickland took the mound for the Twins in the top of the eleventh. The Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Jim Mason hit a sacrifice fly to put the Rangers back in front.

Jim Shellenback took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eleventh. With the tying run at first, pinch hitter Danny Thompson flew out to right to end the game.

The Rangers got an even dozen hits in the win.

Final score: Texas 5 Minnesota 4 11 innings.
