Tonight is the second game in the series in California between the Rangers and the Angels. The Rangers have lost seven of their last eight. The Angels have won three straight.

In the top of the second, Harrah beat out the 5-4-3, allowing Burroughs to score from third.

In the bottom of the fifth, Ryan tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Angels loaded the bases with one out. Stephenson grounded into the fielder's choice that forced the runner at home for the second out. Ryan then lined out to short to end the inning.

After six: Texas 1 California 1.

After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers. Cardenas knocked the go-ahead run in with a single.

After a leadoff single in the top of the eighth, Lloyd Allen took the mound for the Angels. The Rangers would load the bases with nobody out. Burroughs grounded into the 4-2 for the first out. Mincher then grounded into the 1-2-3 to retire the side.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth, Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers.

In the top of the ninth, Maddox tied the game with a two-out RBI single.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth. With a runner on first and one out, Rivers grounded into the 5-4-3 to send the game into extra innings.

After nine: Texas 2 California 2.

In the top of the tenth, Tom Norton took the mound for the Angels.

In the bottom of the tenth, Stephenson struck out with runners at first and second and two down to keep the game going.

Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eleventh. With a runner on first, pinch hitter Deron Johnson grounded into the inning ending double play.

Dave Sells took the mound for the Angels in the top of the twelfth.

In the bottom of the twelfth, the Angels had the winning run on second but Cesar Geronimo struck out to end the inning.

With a runner on first and one out in the top of the thirteenth, Rich Gossage took the mound for the Angels. Kubiak put the Rangers in front with a two-run double.

Jim Shellenback took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the thirteenth. The Angels got the leadoff runner on but a 6-4-3 took care of him and finally brought this game to an end.

The two teams combined for 22 hits in the game.

Final score: Texas 4 California 2 13 innings.
