In the top of the first, Burroughs got the scoring started with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the first, Unser scored from third when Nettles grounded into the 4-6-3.

In the bottom of the second, the Indians loaded the bases with one out. Lamb grounded into the 6-2 for the second out. But Unser came through with a 2 run single. Chambliss walked to load the bases again, now with two out. But Nettles grounded to the pitcher to end the inning.

After three: Cleveland 3 Texas 1.

In the top of the fifth, Kubiak scored on a Maddox groundout to second.

After six: Cleveland 3 Texas 2.

After Billings led off the top of the seventh with a single, Phil Hennigan took the mound for the Indians. The Rangers went on to load the bases with nobody out. Broberg then tied the game with an RBI single. Maddox went down on strikes for the first out. Harrah then drew a 4 pitch walk to give the Rangers the lead back. Nelson then flew out to left and Foster threw Kubiak out at home to retire the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, Unser gave the Indians the lead back with a 2 run homer.

Steve Mingori took the mound for the Indians in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Maddox grounded into the 6-2 for the first out. Harrah grounded into the 5-2 for the second out. But, with Nelson batting, Mingori threw a wild pitch, allowing Vic Harris to score the tying run. Nelson then walked to load the bases with two out. Burroughs then walked to bring home the go-ahead run. Mincher then grounded to first to retire the side.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth. With runners at first and second and one out, Chambliss grounded into the game ending 4-6-3.

The two teams combined for 20 hits.

Final score: Texas 6 Cleveland 5.

In the top of the first, Nelson brought the game's first run in with an RBI single. Harrah scored when Burroughs grounded to second. Nelson scored on a Kubiak sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the first, Nettles hit a solo home run.

In the top of the second, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Nelson hit another RBI single. Burroughs then brought a pair in with a single. Mincher brought a run home with a double. Kubiak added his own RBI single but Mincher was thrown out at home by Bell while trying to score from second. The Rangers sent 9 men to the plate in the inning.

In the top of the third, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Tom Hilgendorf took the mound for the Indians. Burroughs flew out to center to retire the side.

After three: Texas 8 Cleveland 1.

In the top of the fourth, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. King went down on strikes for the first out. Stanhouse then grounded into the 6-4-3 to retire the side.

In the top of the fifth, Burroughs hit an RBI single.

After six: Texas 9 Cleveland 1.

Denny Riddleberger took the mound for the Indians in the top of the seventh.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the ninth.

The Rangers out hit the Indians 11-3 and also drew 11 walks.
