07/29/1972 - Multi-HR Game for Kingman in 12-3 Win
A 6-RBI performance from Dave Kingman, who now leads the NL in home runs with 24, helped the San Francisco Giants beat the Atlanta Braves, 12-3. The winner was Jim Barr, who threw 115 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits. The Giants move to 43-60 with the win, while the Braves drop to 48-56.
Tito Fuentes also swatted a 3-run home run for San Francisco in the top of the second. The second baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Kingman said after being named the Player of the Game. He victimized RHP Tom Kelley (again) for both of his big flys.
