Top of the First:
Paul Bouvet grounds one to short, but Alejandro Prieto boots it. Omar Flores grounds into a force at 2nd, 5-4. Bob Draper up and Flores steals 2nd. Draper grounds out to 2nd and Flores goes to 3rd. 2 outs. Jeff Austin lines a hit to left and Flores scores! 1 to 0, Beavers! Tony Casarez up and Austin steals 2nd. Casarez bounces a hit to right and Austin beats the throw to the plate! 2 to 0, Beavers! Dennis Webb up and a wild pitch sends Casarez to 2nd. Webb doubles to center and Casarez scores! 3 to 0, Beavers! But Webb is hurt and calls out Pepe, the trainer.... We must not be allowed to have any catchers.... Phil Parker goes in to run for him and will stay in to catch. Jeff Schottler lines out to center.

Bottom of the First:

Alejandro Prieto grounds out to short. Ernie McGuire flies out to center. Randy Schmitt grounds one up the middle and Bouvet makes a diving stop, but Schmitt has an infield hit. Ricky Rodriguez up and Schmitt steals 2nd. Rodriguez drills one to deep center, but Jeff Schottler catches it just short of the wall!

Top of the Third:
Bob Draper leads off with a hit and Jeff Austin doubles to left. Tony Casarez takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4 to load the bases up with no outs. Sure would be nice to have the hot hitting Dennis Webb up now... Instead, Phil Parker fouls one off to the left side, but 3B Tony Olson drops it for an error. Given another chance, Parker doubles to the right field corner and two runs score! 5 to 0, Beavers! That ends P Kevin McCormick's first Major League start. New Pitcher: Mike Bates (27-R) with a 1.56 ERA in 52 IP. Jeff Schottler grounds a hit to right and another run is in! 6 to 0, Beavers! Mitch Gingrich is in to play right. P Don Panighetti bunts Lesley to 2nd. 2 outs. Paul Bouvet grounds out to 3rd.

Top of the Fourth:

With 2 outs, Jeff Austin hits a home run down the left field line! 8 to 0, Beavers! That is only the 2nd home run that Bates has allowed this season

Bottom of the Sixth:

Eddie Thomas is in to play short, Dave Lesley moves over to 3rd and Woody Griesbach is in to play left. The Royals load the bases up with no outs thanks to singles by Randy Schmitt, Rocky Rodriguez and Tony Olson. Pedro Fuentes flies out to left and Schmitt tags up, but gets thrown out by Woody Griesbach! Mitch Gingrich grounds out to 1st, unassisted! No runs!

Won - 8 to 1

The Royals scored a 9th inning run to spoil the shutout... It would have been the 2nd in a row for Panighetti and the 3rd in 5 games.

We had 12 hits and made 2 errors
Kansas City had 9 hits and made 2 errors

We set a new team record with our 7th straight game with a home run!
