I have always done it by hand and do not believe that there is a quick fix available. It is a bit cumbersome but really doesn't take that much time. Especially after the initial year when you only need to deal with new incoming fighters.
Also, I received a PM about rule sets. These are mainly just personal preference unless you wish to mimic one of the real world alphabet group's rules. Even though they are just my preferences, I will post what I use for the various groups when I am at home tonight.
