The Colt .45s are in Cincinnati for a four-game series against the Reds. This is the last series before the All Star Break. The Colt .45s have lost five of their last six. The Reds have won six straight. The Reds lead the season series 5-1.

In the bottom of the first, Cardenas put the Reds on the board with a two out two RBI double.

In the bottom of the second, Adair hit a two run double. Robinson brought Adair home with a two out single.

After three: Cincinnati 5 Houston 0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Coleman hit a two out two home run homer. George Brunet replaced Johnson on the mound for the Colt .45s.

In the top of the sixth, Buddin put the Colt .45s on the board with an RBI single.

After six: Cincinnati 7 Houston 1.

Dave Giusti took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Larker got an RBI single. The Colt .45s loaded the bases with one out. Aspromonte flew to center for the second out. Amalfitano drew a five pitch walk to bring Buddin home. Taussig singled to bring two more home.

Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the eighth.

With the Reds ahead by a pair, Jim Brosnan took the mound in the top of the ninth. With a runner on third and two out, Mejias tied the game with a two run homer.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth, Bobby Shantz took the mound for the Colt .45s. With a runner on first and two out, Marty Keough popped to short to send the game into extra innings.

After nine: Houston 7 Cincinnati 7.

In the top of the tenth, with a runner on first and one out, Johnny Klippstein took the mound for the Reds. The Colt .45s loaded the bases with two out. Buddin flew to left to retire the side.

Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45s in the bottom of the tenth. With a runner at second and one out, Kasko singled to left but Spangler threw Cardenas out at home. However, the next batter, Edwards, would bring Kasko home from second with a two out single for the game winner.

The Reds got 17 hits in the victory.

Final score: Cincinnati 8 Houston 7 10 innings.
