Walkers news: June 3 -- Springfield 5, St. Louis 2, 10 innings

Record: 24-33, 5th (Tied/w. Kansas City), 7 GB Des Moines
The St. Louis River Walkers gave Edwin Diaz a ton of money in the offseason to be their closer.
Maybe he should give it back to them.
A pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off Prairie Fighters reliever D.J. Jefferson -- Romy Gonzalez plating both with a triple -- had put St. Louis up 2-1.
But Diaz could not maintain it.
He struck out the first two hitters, before walking Nate Traylor.
Michael Brantley followed with a single.
Trevor Lanarch then connecting for an RBI double to tie it, as Diaz blew his third save of the season.
Kansas City put up three runs in the 10th against the struggling St. Louis bullpen.
Odubel Herrera led off with a single off Jake Brentz, who then hit the next batter, Jorge Alfaro, before exiting.
Kenley Jansen continued to let the fire blast.
Allowing the first batter he faced, Eugenio Suarez, to double as K.C. went in front 3-2.
Pitcher, PITCHER, Gerson Moreno followed with a single scoring another run.
With the game growing out of hand, and the bullpen already run ragged, Wander Samual Franco plated the inning's third run with a sacrifice fly.
Masters starter Scott Gingery worked 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing six hits while striking out two and walking one.
Steckenrider handled 1.2 innings. before giving way to Jefferson, who recorded just one out and allowed St. Louis only two runs.
Jake Diekman finished off the eighth.
Moreno (3-2) allowed two hits but no runs over the ninth and 10th to earn his third win.
