Montreal Canadiens (1-0-0) at Buffalo Sabres (0-0-0)

Montreal will start the season with back to back games. We will play the Sabres who will be playing their season opener at home. Montreal were unable to draw a penalty in game one against the Devils and were out shot by New Jersey are looking to play a bit more of a solid game today.

Montreal will start G Stefan Mertel. He will play as a result of back to back nights for Montreal. Buffalo will start G Johnny Gore. The 28 year old Gore was 19-33-3 with a 3.10 GAA and .904 save % in 59 games last year.

Their is no scoring in the 1st period. The shots were even as well at 7-7. Montreal was 0 for 2 on the PP while Buffalo did not get a PP chance.

Buffalo gets the 1st goal of the game to make it 1-0 at 11:26 of the 2nd period, RD James Podgorenko gets his 1st of the year. Montreal ties the score at 1-1 when RW Eric McFatridge gets his 1st of the year at 18:43. The shots are 13 to 4 for Montreal in the 2nd.

Buffalo takes a 2-1 lead at 7:32 of the 3rd when RW Derrick Kinnevan gets his 1st of the year. Montreal ties it up 2-2 at 17:51 when RD Jonathan Harper scores his 1st of the year on the PP. Buffalo out shot Montreal 12 to 11 in the 3rd period.

Montreal had to kill a 1:06 of a penalty that was a carry over from the 3rd period and at 1:18 Josef Kramar gets his 2nd of the season in overtime for the Montreal win. It was the only shot in overtime as Montreal out shot Buffalo 32 to 23 in the game. Montreal was 1 for 8 on the PP while Buffalo was 1 for 3.

Montreal LW Josef Kramar was the 1st star with his 1 goal and 1 assist. The 21 year old Kramar now has 2 goals and 3 points in 2 games this year. Kramar had 17 goals and 41 points in 80 games last year for Montreal.
