Walkers news: May 2 -- Quad City 17, St. Louis 3

Record: 11-14, 4th, 4.5 GB Quad City
Leading 2-0, Quad City pounded out 12 runs in the top of the second inning to pave the way to an embarrassing 17-3 win over St. Louis at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the win, Quad City took two of three games in the series.
Derek Fisher hit a two-run homer off River Walkers starting pitcher Luiz Gohara in the top of the first inning, giving the Thunder a 2-0 lead.
But it was only the beginning.
The second inning saw the Thunder pile up 12 runs on just six hits, as St. Louis absolutely killed itself by and by hitting three batters and walking one and also committing a pair of errors.
The big hits, a grand slam from Miguel Gomez and a three-run blast from Anthony Alford both off John Curtiss.
The effort of Quad City starting pitcher Aaron Blair was lost in all the offense, he didn't allow a run in 6.2 innings giving up just three hits. He struck out four and walked two.
All three River Walkers runs came in the bottom of the ninth when Tucker Barnhart hit a three-run home run off Jesse Hahn.
