Weird situation in yesterday's Jays-Rays game. Runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs. Batter laces a line drive fair down the 3rd base line. After a bounce it sliced into foul territory, hit the wall and caromed back into fair territory to the fielder who was running over to get it. He got his glove on it and tried to flip it to his throwing hand but he bungled it and managed to knock it over the wall into the stands in foul territory.

They ruled it a ground rule double and the runner from 1st had to stay at 3rd. This is a ridiculous rule. With 2 outs the runners were off on contact and there was no chance that the guy from first doesn't score easily. I can't help but wonder why outfielders don't do this intentionally.
